When she was a toddler, I loved to hear her talk about seadulls; seagull in later years. On Kodiak Island there were many and she often pointed: “look Mom, seadulls, seadulls!”. On more recent visits to us we’d walk down to the neighbors to see the sheep and llama. And she made it a point one year to find salamanders, bring them into the house so Lyra could pet them; Bran was outside being a forest ninja.
Her commitment to justice. In January 2017 she flew to DC for a women’s march, pink hat and all. I thought of Colm a lot that weekend while I was in Austin attending the march there; he’s the stand by her side person always.
When I had my 50th birthday I could only have quipped this with Christine; hey, since I changed your diapers as a baby, will you change mine when I’m 90?!! She laughed; no answer!
I will always have my green and yellow socks she knitted. Evidence is that I still wear my mom's socks.
